Some people travel to reach a destination. Others travel to learn. As an ex-cruise barteam member, I learn the life by traveling and exploring new destinations and people. The Explorer is a twist to classic whiskey highball, which resembles my bartending journey with spirituality. This cocktail is inspired by the ancient monks who spent their lives walking from place to place, learning about new cultures, healing herbs, and the simple comfort of sharing a cup of tea. Every journey taught them something new, and every stop became part of their Scotch whisky gives this drink its calm, mature character. Bitters add a touch of the medicinal herbs the monks once collected. Rooibos tea brings warmth, while Indian vetiver adds a fresh, earthy aroma that has been valued for centuries. A light orange blossom soda finishes the drink with a soft floral lift, like the fresh air at the start of a new journey. It's a drink that reminds us that life isn't only about where we're going-it's about the people we meet, the moments we collect, and the stories we bring back with us. Every sip is a small step on that journey
